You can even divert all power to the rear wheels for some tail-happy antics if you wish. This new M3 doesn’t just shut down its critics, but fights back with perhaps the most capable and superbly engineered package in decades. This one’s a belter. No other sports or super-saloon is as capable, grippy, tied down, responsive or communicative on a difficult road. Yes, it's heavier than before. No, it’s not an issue. At all. In its ability to deliver speed and composure it’s a huge step on from before and has perhaps the best chassis of any contemporary M3 since the E46 twenty years ago.

BMW says the engine produces 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque, BMW's available xDrive all-wheel drive, the M3 Competition shoots to 60 mph in 3 seconds flat.
